Upright monuments are the most traditional style of memorial and typically consist of two pieces: the upright top piece or “die” and the base it sits on. The monument is then installed on a concrete foundation, which is poured by the cemetery to ensure long‑term stability. A common size for a single upright monument is 2′ wide × 1′ deep × 3′ tall, though many other sizes and shapes are available depending on the cemetery’s regulations and your design preferences. Upright monuments offer clear visibility, ample space for names and dates, and a classic appearance that has been used for generations.
